This just in

A final test just before the start of the league brought Club Brugge's Ladies to the Kiel stadium, where it was to meet with local GBA-Kontich. Kontich came in first last season in second division, and has been taken up by Germinal Beerschot this season. For both teams, this game was the last friendly before the new season is kicked off next weekend.

Both teams awaited things at the start of the game. A couple of chances followed, but both goalies remained workless at first. The first good opportunity was for blauw-zwart after fifteen minutes. Nina Vindevoghel pulled a great cross, but Charlotte Laridon touched the ball just wide. A bit later the visitors opened the score: a far goal kick by Kim Dossche went over the defense, where it was met by Isabelle Plaisier (photo) taking the ball in one go, and slotting it past the home goalie.

After the break, Club really started taking matters in hand. Good combination football pinned down the opponent. Thanks to the focused start, the team soon doubled the lead. Lies Van Hamme crossed in two goes, and thanks to an Antwerp error in defense, Nina Vindevoghel (photo) got the ball. She did not hesitate and scored in the upper corner.

After this comfortable lead, Club Brugge Ladies remained in charge. A spectacular save by the home goalie denied a third goal, and a bit later  Charlotte Laridon's attempt was cleared from the line. The best opportunities at the end of the game were for Club; attempts by Barbara Lezy, Isabelle Plaisier and Saskia Bernaert all were to no avail, keeping the score at 0-2.

Next weekend, the home league will be kicked off, with a huge assignment to start with, last season's champions Sint-Truiden will be making their way to Aalter. (AD/LM)
