Júnior Díaz (Wisla Krakow) signs at Club
Costa Rican left back Júnior Díaz (26), previously at Wisla Krakow (Poland), has signed a contract at Club Brugge, binding him at the Belgian team for three seasons, with an option for two additional years. Negotiations with regard to this contract have just been finalised successfully by Sports Manager Luc Devroe.
Júnior Díaz will be joining his national team against Jamaica this weekend, and will be making his way to Brugge afterwards.
Júnior Díaz (in full: Júnior Enrique Díaz Campbell) is the son of Costa Rican international Enrique Diaz. Next 12 September, he will be 27 years old. As a 19-year old, Júnior Díaz started in the line-up at CS Herediano, playing 133 games for he team, scoring ten goals. He was signed by Wisla Krakow in the Summer of 2007. After a year of adapting, in which he only played seven games, Júnior Díaz was the undisputed left back as of 2008. He has layed 95 games at Wisla, again scoring 10 goals. So far, Junior Diaz has been capped fourty times after his breakthrough at Herediano in 2003 (1 goal).
Júnior Díaz (76 kg to 1m85) will be wearing jersey nr 25 at Club Brugge.
Júnior Díaz will be available in the Europa League group stages, as Wisla Krakow has been eliminated in the third preliminaries of this competition (by FC Qarabag, Azerbeidzjan).
