Club loses friendly at PSV: 2-0

Playing behind closed doors at the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven, Club was beaten 2-0 by locals PSV, "but all in all it was a very useful friendly", Adrie Koster concluded.

The friendly at PSV was scheduled to allow the first team to gain some rhythm in the football-void weekend due to international games. The ideal opportunity for some first team players with a low amount of playing minutes to play, among them Jeroen Simaeys, who made his return with the U21s against Westerlo after an arm and elbow fracture. Jeroen played for an hour last Monday, but yesterday he stayed on the entire game.
Club appeared without its foreign internationals (Vargas, Perisic, Scepovic and new signing Diaz) and Daan Van Gijseghem, who had been selected for the Belgian U21 squad. Adrie Koster also allowed some regulars a bit of rest (Stijnen, Camozzato, Dalmat). Jonathan Blondel started from kick-off, but was taken off after ten minutes, conceding a severe blow to the ankle. After the break, U21s Mateusz Kuzmicki and Fries Deschilder joined in, and Mathias Schaessens played for 15 minutes.
In the first half, the game was quite level, with Club getting some chances through Maxime Lestienne and Thibaut Van Acker. After the break, PSV (playing at full strength for most of the second half) had the better of the game and scored twice. Colin Coosemans, manning goal for the full ninety minutes, was helpless against a Marcelo header, and had nothing in store against Danny Koevermans' attempt. The chance to score a tying goal was missed by Dirar at the end of the game.
"This was a particularly useful friendly", coach Adrie Koster concluded. "For guys like Simaeys, Kouemaha, Lestienne and Vermeulen this was an ideal opportunity to claim some playing minutes and a bit of match rhyth, while others were given the chance to play with the big guns."

PSV: Cassio Ramos - Romario Sabajo (78' Ritzmaier), Marcelo, Bouma, Wuytens - Ojo, Engelaar, Bakkal - Reis de Lima, Koevermans, Amrabat.
Club: Coosemans - Vermeulen, Hoefkens (46' Donk), Simaeys, Van der Heyden (46' Kuzmicki) - Geraerts (77' Mathias Schaessens), Odjidja (46' Deschilder), Blondel (10' Van Acker) - Lestienne, Kouemaha, Dirar.
Goals: 53' Marcelo (1-0), 70' Koevermans (2-0).
