Izquierdo werd reeds in 2014 door Club naar Europa gehaald. De Colombiaanse winger groeide in 3 jaar Blauw-Zwart uit tot een echte publiekslieveling. 23 Doelpunten en 11 assists in 58 Jupiler Pro Leaguematchen, een Gouden Schoen, Profvoetballer van het Jaar, kampioen én bekerwinnaar: Izquierdo vertrok naar Brighton & Hove Albion door de grote poort.
In zijn droomcompetitie, de Premier League, liep het aanvankelijk ook goed voor ‘Joske’ maar de laatste twee seizoenen werd hij steeds vaker door blessures geremd. In juni liep zijn contract in Engeland af. Club geeft nu de kans aan Izquierdo om in alle rust op het Basecamp te revalideren en terug naar zijn oude niveau terug te keren.
