Nîmes Olympique, KV Kortrijk and now Club Brugge. It was some time in the making, but at the age of 28 Benoît Poulain's break-through cannot be denied. Plenty of interest by the Belgian top teams in January 2016, but the Frenchman decided to try his luck at Club Brugge, where his experience and vision helps the young talented players making up Club's defense. Both on and off the pitch, ‘Le Professeur’ is always eager to help.
Nîmes Olympique is the first halt in Poulain's career, helping the team to Ligue 2 promotion in 2008. The team's youth product grows in his role as the tactical mastermind in defense, an excellent reader of the game, only going into a tackle when he is sure he's going to win the duel. The role of skipper at a Ligue 2 team is not enough for Poulain to stay in France, and KV Kortrijk manages to lure him to Flanders, where he joins a group of talented French speaking players. Once again he raises the bar, and is one of the first names on the board. Every big name in Belgium wishes to sign the Frenchman, but it is Michel Preud’homme and Club Brugge who manage to entice ‘Le Professeur’. His goal, to make it to the Champions League, has already been reached. But that's not where it all ends for Benoit: his performances prove he's one of the best defenders in the Belgian league, an asset to Club's defense.
