Dion Cools was 19 years old when he made the move to Club Brugge from OH Leuven. A giant step forward for the Belgian right back, and a mainstay at OHL's second division outfit.
Born out of a Malaysian mother and a Belgian father, Cools broke through in 2014-2015 at OH Leuven, where he had made quite the mark at right back. Cools stemmed from the team's youth ranks, having joined the fusion team at the age of nine from Tempo Overijse. He went on to stay for four years at OH Leuven. A short 2011 spell at Anderlecht was no success, and saw Cools return to Leuven. His steady progress has earned him a spot in the heavily talented national U21 squad, where he plays alongside Hervé Matthys, Siebe Schrijvers, Jari Vandeputte and Obbi Oulare.
With strengths in both offense and defense, the Belgo-Malaysian right back is a good reader of the game, technically skilled and a timely header topping it all off.
