Clinton Mata: “My most beautiful goal so far”
Coming on for Benoit Poulain in the heart of defense, Clinton Mata put in one hell of a performance. The Angolese Belgian topped off his five star game with an absolute stunner of a goal, scoring from long range with a blast coming off the crossbar to make it 2-0.
“This performance is not exactly by coincidence. I have returned from injury well, and I'm feeling great. That pays off now. I was given a start in defense. We're all players, we adapt to the team, and it worked out well. The first copule of minutes we were testing the water a bit, but after that we imposed our pace. The goal I scored must have been the most beautiful goal I scored so far. It reminded me of my mom instantly. Before the game she told me this was going to be my day, and that I was going to score. She also told me that before we played Genk, and I also scored then. I hope she'll be telling me that often in these Play-Offs. But we're keeping both feet firmly planted on the ground. The coach decides how we will continue. Nothing but big games as of now. Every team wants to show it's ready to go for the title, and it's clear we also showed we have what it takeS. It's still too early days to start claiming we're really in it for the big haul. Still nine games to go, everything's possible; on Thursday another key game awaits as we take on Anderlecht on the road.” (KN)
