The starting eleven that ousted Antwerp from the Belgian cup last week, underwent four changes. The blue and black, already riddled with various players who've tested positive for COVID-19 including Denswil, Vanaken and Lang, saw Mats Rits testing positive as well in Ukraine, which meant the midfielder had to forfait the game. They were replaced by Ricca, Balanta, Dirar and Okereke. The technical staff hadn't made the trip either because of a positive COVID-19 test. Club NXT coach Rik De Mil was at the helm for this Europa League game.

The game kicked off at minus 10 degrees, which meant that it ook a while before both sides were up and running. Club carved out the first half-chance of the game. Dost headed Ricca's cross into the path of Mata, but his effort swirved over and wide of the target. At the other side of the pitch Besedin was given the ball, but his shot was blocked.

Club had the game under controle, while the hosts lacked attacking prowess to hurt the blue and black. Club didn't get into a lot of problems, despite two dangerously looking crosses from the right-hand side. Buyalskiy was picked out twice, but the striker's looping header fell onto the roof of the goal and his second sailed a mter over the crossbar.

Club was best out of the starting blocks in the second half. Club put more pressure on the defence and created an early chance, but De Ketelaere's effort was blocked. The blue and black looked to have things under control, went out of the blue Kyiv opened the scoring on the hour-mark. Buyalskiy cut inside from the left-hand side and arrowed it into the top corner. No chance for Mignolet.

But Club leveled things up almost immediately. Ruud Vormer swung in a corner kick that was met by Brandon Mechele who headed home! Club wanted a second goal, but a serie of crosses into the box failed to find someone at the end. Halfway the second half Van der Brempt and Badji came on for Dirar and Okereke. Van der Brempt immediately showed his potential with a brilliant move from the right-hand side. He went past a couple of defenders, but just couldn't have a shot at goal.

In the final minutes of the match, Club kept pushing for a second goal. Ten minutes before the end Badji headed Vormer's corner back in front of goal, but Bas Dost was too surprised to head in.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw. Next week Club hosts Kyiv at Jan Breydel and will try to qualify for the 1/8th final of the Europa League.
