Club draws 2-2 with Anderlecht

Club Brugge shared the spoils with Anderlecht following a 2-2 draw. Charles De Ketelaere broke the deadlock early in the game, but Amuzu and Hoedt turned things around in the second half. Late in the game Hans Vanaken saved Club a well-deserved point with an unstoppable header.

There wasn't really a reason for Philippe Clement to change a lot about his team after the commanding 1-4 win at OH Leuven. Only Brandon Mechele replaced Stanley Nsoki in the heart of the defence as the Frenchman had limped off in the game against OHL. Club started with Lang and De Ketelaere up front, supported by Vanaken and Vormer. Just like Club, Anderlecht had twelve out of twelve and were brimming with confidence to make the trip to Jan Breydel.

It was a high-paced start of the match with the visitors creating the most danger - mostly from the left-hand side. Verschaeren got a touch on one of Gomez' low crosses, but Mignolet kept it out. A few moments later Verschaeren beat the offside trap, but his effort missed all direction.

The blue and black restored the balance after ten minutes play and proved very efficient in front of goal. Lang feeded De Ketelaere with a brilliant touch and the youngster tapped home past Van Crombrugge. First chance, first goal.

Tha goal changed the face of the match completely as Club dominated the game from that point on. Vormer's cross just evaded Lang, Sobol's strike flew wide and a header by Vanaken just sailed wide of the far post. Just before the break Lang hit the side-netting from a sharp angle and Vanaken forced Van Crombrugge into making a save on a shot and a header. A back-heel pass from Rits to Lang didn't result in a goal either. The visitors didn't show a lot for themselves, apart from Kouamé's tame shot that was easily saved by Mignolet.

Ten seconds into the second half Club could have doubled the lead. De Ketelaere sent Lang through on goal, but Murillo's last-ditch tackle prevented the goal. Ten minutes into the second half Anderlecht almost equalized. Substitute Raman did well to create space in the box, but Mignolet had rushed out and turned Raman's shot into a corner kick.

Club was still the dominant side and created the most danger, but Vanaken headed wide and De Ketelaere couldn't take advantage when Van Crombrugge made a mistake.

Just under halfway the second half, the blue and black had another good chance to make it two but Van Crombrugge was equal to Rits' attempt. Instead of scoring a second, the visitors equalized. Substitute Amuzu cut inside from the left-hand side and curled the ball into the far corner. Club responded through Vormer, but it was Anderlecht that scored again. Mignolet with a full-stretch save to keep out Raman's header but on that corner kick Hoedt slammed it home after the ball fell into his feet on a blocked strike by Kouamé.

Club upped the tempo immediately in search of the equalizer. Lang hit the side-netting again, but five minutes before the end Hans Vanaken rose high to meet with Vormer's perfect corner-kick and the midfielder headed in unstoppable. His 13th goal against Anderlecht. The last chance was for Amuzu, but Ricca defended well.

The game ends in a 2-2 draw, which means Club keeps Anderlecht on a five-point distance. League leaders Union are now six points clear.
