It's the 28th confrontation between the two teams in the Belgian first division. Club won eleven of the previous 13 home games against KVO (last time 2-0 on 22/11/2019), shared the spoils once (2-2 on 22/05/2016) and conceded one defeat (2-3 on 28/08/1994).

Club's been undefeated in eleven straight home games against Oostende and was able to find the back of the net in alle previous home matches against them.

Philippe Clement's team won the game against KVO in the first round. Mats Rits opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, but Makhtar Gueye canceled out the opener six minutes later. Eight minutes before the end Krépin Diatta restored Club's lead and a few minutes later Youssouph Badji killed the game with a third goal.

The opponent

KVO has had a good season so far, being fifth with 32 points after 21 games. They started the year with 7 points out of three home games against Sporting Charleroi (3-2), Eupen (1-1) and KV Kortrijk (2-1). But on the road, they've been far less impressive. They are the 13th best away team in the Jupiler Pro League with 11 out of 30 points. Oostende won at KV Mechelen (0-1), Cercle Brugge (0-1) and OH Leuven (1-2). They drew level with STVV (0-0) and KRC Genk (2-2), but lost at Charleroi (1-0), Standard (1-0), Waasland-Beveren (2-0), KV Kortrijk (3-1) and Anderlecht (2-1).

Last weekend Oostende missed a couple of players who had tested positive on corona, like former Club players Guillaume Hubert and Brecht Capon. One player to keep a close eye on is Fashion Sakala. So far the Zambian striker scored eight goals and provided two assists. Andrew Hjulsager is KVO's assist king with seven key passes. With Club and KVO the two teams with the least (27) and most (52) yellow cards look each other in the eye.

KV Oostende is the team with the fourth youngest average starting eleven in the first division (24,6 years). Anderlecht (23,4), Cercle Brugge (24,4) and Waasland-Beveren (24,5) have on average a younger starting team.

Krépin Diatta is still Club's top striker with nine goals. Ruud Vormer caught up with Hans Vanaken as assist king. Both gave six key passes.

Simon Mignolet kept a clean sheet for the 10th time this season in the Jupiler Pro League. Sunday's clean sheet was his 26th in 47 league fixtures (55,3%).

With Youssouph Badji, Charles De Ketelaere and Odilon Kossounou Club has now three goal scorers who were born in the 21th century - more than any other team in the Jupiler Pro League.

Charles De Ketelaere made his league debut 425 days ago against KV Oostende.

With 43 goals scored and 13 conceded, Club is top of the notch in the first division.

Simon Mignolet can play his 70th game for the blue and black. For youngsters Youssouph Badji and Noa Lang it can be their 20th match for Club.

The man in black

Wim Smet has been appointed referee for the game between Club and KVO. It'll be the 18th official game of Club Brugge for the 38-year-old. In the previous 14 home games with Smet as referee, Club won 12. One game ended on a draw, one resulted in defeat. Smet was the referee in 29 official KVO matches on the highest level. Eleven times when Oostende played on the road which resulted in 2 wins, 1 draw and 8 defeats.

It's been more than a year and a half since Wim Smet was the referee for a Club Brugge game. This season Smet whistled Oostende's away match at Waasland-Beveren (2-0 defeat).

Smet was the referee in two earlier games between Club and Oostende. Both times Club celebrated a win.
