Club wins friendly against FC Nürnberg with 3-0

After nine intense training sessions on Spanish territory, a friendly against Germany's FC Nürnberg was scheduled on the final day. In the three times forty-five-minute game, Coach Ronny Deila gave all fit players chances. In the end, Blue-Black deservedly made it 3-0.

Compared to the last league game against Union, Ronny Deila opted for Antonio Nusa in place of Philip Zinckernagel. Casper Nielsen took the place of Raphael Onyedika, who like Denis Odoi is off to the Africa Cup. Eleven other players came on after 67 minutes, including Kyriani Sabbe, who was allowed to make his comeback after a long injury. Club NXT players Alejandro Granados, Amine Et Taïbi and Laurens Goemaere also each got their chance a little later.

In the early stages, Club Brugge had total control. After ten minutes Andreas Skov Olsen was able to sweep the ball towards the far post where Antonio Nusa emerged. The Norwegian headed back to Vanaken who was able to hit the ball from close range. Goalkeeper Klaus lined up well. And two minutes later it was again Klaus who had to save. Now the danger came from the other side. Meijer served Skov Olsen, but again too central.

After sixteen minutes it was a goal thanks to a quick combination between Vanaken and Skov Olsen. The latter was able to get in front of goal after which de Cuyper first let the ball run through his legs before captain Vanaken was free to put the ball in the basket. 1-0. After that it was a while waiting for danger. FC Nürnberg first came close to a goal after about 35 minutes when Nielsen and Spileers wanted to play out and the latter tapped the ball back to Mignolet a little too far. The goalkeeper was able to clear just before the line.

Strong out of the dressing room

And just like in the first half, Club started the second half threateningly. Nielsen was able to advance and get to the back line, De Cuyper kicked the 'forty-five' too centrally to Klaus. This should have been the 2-0. This was followed by a whole series of chances through De Cuyper or Skov Olsen, but also through Antonio Nusa who was able to capitalize with some flashes from the wing. Each time, either Klaus was in the way or the ball went just wide.

After 67 minutes, Ronny Deila brought eleven new boys and immediately one of them was able to make his mark. After a few minutes, Ferran Jutglà was poked into the depths by Skoras. The Catalan stayed cool and calmly finished. 2-0. About ten minutes later, it was bingo again. This time the assist was credited to Victor Barberá. Jutglà got the ball in his feet in the penalty area, after which he outplayed his direct opponent and deliciously pecked the ball into the goal via the crossbar. 3-0!

He almost scored a hat-trick. Michal Skoras painted the ball delightfully in front of goal, but Jutglà nodded wide. The Polish winger later tried again himself, but the substitute Reichert made a good save. Zinckernagel's volley was also saved in the closing stages.

Minutes for Club NXT players

Other than that, Club Brugge was able to tap time around quietly and the German second division side could not make a fist anymore. Alejandro Granados, Amine Et-Taïbi and Laurens Goemaere did get a taste of minutes with the first team. The youngsters replaced Sabbe, Barberá and Yameogo during the last twenty minutes.

Blauw-Zwart ends the training camp in Marbella with a win and a clean sheet. Tuesday awaits the cup game in Gent.
