Cools' winner secured Club Brugge victory at Mouscron

It's six out of six for Club Brugge thanks to a 0-1 win at Mouscron. Wesley was sent off with a straight red card after just ten minutes, but substitute Dion Cools' goal proved to be the difference for Ivan Leko's visiting side.

Ivan Leko had to make one change to his line-up compared to last week's against Eupen. Stefano Denswil wasn't match fit and thus replaced by Alexander Scholz. Tomečak and Danjuma played on the wing, Rits patrolled the midfield in support of Vormer and Vanaken. Up front Vossen teamed up with Wesley.

Mouscron started the match lively and almost took the lead after just five minutes when Sambu's header just went wide. Ten minutes into the game Wesley vied for the ball with Katranis and waved his arm into the face of the defender. After consulting the VAR, Club's Brazilian forward was sent off. The Blues with ten for the remaining eighty minutes. Minutes later Club were close to breaking the deadlock when Werner was forced into making an excellent save on an effort by Vossen.

Being one man down Club still had most of the ball, but the home side was more dangerous inside the final third with chances for Sambu, Mohamed and Galitsios. The Blues responded with efforts by Rits and Vossen, but Werner was equal to the attempts. On the stroke of half-time Vossen headed the ball against Pierrot's hand inside the box, but referee Boucaut waved the penalty appeal away.

At the break Cools came on for Tomečak and Club immediately upped the tempo trying to break the deadlock. Croation defender Mitrović was close twice, but just couldn't reach the ball. Ten minutes inside the second half, Club grabbed the lead when Dion Cools darted inside the area from his right-hand side and fired in past Werner from an acute angle. One minute later the goalie had to parry away Vossen's shot to prevent another goal.

Mouscron had to turn things around, but the Blues remained the more dangerous side with chances for Vanaken and Vormer. Mbombo, Napoleone and Van Durmen tried to equalize for the hosts, but Letica couldn't be troubled.

With just the one goal lead the game was far from decided, especially because Club didn't kill the game. Vanaken teed up Vormer, but the Dutchman didn't connect properly with the ball. A few minutes later it was Vormer who played Vossen through, but the forward saw his effort roll wide. With only a few minutes on the clock Luan Peres made his debut for Club Brugge.

The score remained 0-1 in favor of the Blues. Thanks to this victory Club Brugge are joint first with Anderlecht with the maximum of the points.
