Former player José Reynaert passed away

It is with great sorrow that we have to announce the death of former Bruges player José Reynaert. He reached the age of 102.

José Reynaert was born on 7 December 1921 in Beernem, and he started his footballing career at SC Beernem. In 1938, he made the transfer to Club Bruges, where he turned out to be a key player for many years. His career was interrupted by World War II, but Reynaert stayed at Bruges until the end of his football career in 1947. Reynaert also had two records in his pocket: he was the last living player who had been playing in the highest division of Belgian football before World War II, and he was the oldest player alive to have played with Club in the First Division.

We would like to send our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

Rest in peace, José.
