Hans Vanaken: “A clean sheet was vital”
Another game, another goal for Club Brugge's Hans Vanaken. After scoring in Waasland-Beveren and at home against Sint-Truiden, Vanaken scored from the spot against Dynamo Kiev, earning Club a narrow 1-0 win.
“This 1-0 win is a fine result. We needed a clean sheet. Maybe we could have scored a second goal, which would have increased our chances of pushing on a lot, but all in all I'm not unhappy with this result. Keep in mind that this is a sturdy opponent playing in Europe for years now, so I reckon there's no need to be dissatisfied. Our start may have been a bit too hesitant, but nonetheless we managed to break out a couple of times, particularly in the first half. The second half saw us playing less football, more so because Kiev was playing higher upfield. That really made it hard on us to push on. That's a working point we'll be taking towards next week. It just goes to show how important it is not to concede any goals. It's far from over, but I definitely see chances for us next week.” (FDC)
