Hans Vanaken: “Owe it to ourselves”

With Ruud Vormer allowed some rest, HAns Vanaken put on the captain's band. The skipper ad interim could not keep Club from suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Leuven, however. Club's Golden Boot deplored the many chances his team missed.

“This has been a very annoying and frustrating evening. Considering the amount of opportunities we had, we really should hav won this game easily. And then, just like last week, there's a dubious penalty case in our disadvantage, which is highly ennerving. Apart from that, and let me repeat my words, we really owe it to ourselves to have lost this game as we just weren't efficient enough. Leuven has its own way of playing, with man-on-man defending and trying to break out, but that doesn't mean we we should give them the three points here.” (FDC)
