Hans Vanaken: "Important to stay calm"
Hans Vanaken was the Man of the Match with two goals and one assist. The Golden Shoe was of course happy with the first victory of Club Brugge in the Jupiler Pro League.
"We had everything under control until that stupid penalty. It is always difficult to judge whether it is a penalty or not but I think it was. The VAR can analyse the situation carefully and we have to respect his decision. Luckily we did not start to hesitate after that goal of Waasland-Beveren. We still played dominantly and we stayed calm."
Club already played quite well which has also been noticed by Vanaken. "It is a bit the same system as the one of Genk last season but that is normal since Philippe Clement is our coach now. We also used this system when Michel Preud'homme was still here. It requires an adapatation of course but that is why we had the pre-season. It is going better and better."
New attacker Okereke also scored immediately. "It is a striker who experiences few pressure and we immediately see his capabilities. He just joined our team so we still have to discover the best way of using his capacities. We hope to win every game. Last season we saw the importance of being focused every game again because we lost quite some points in the regular league. It is fun for me to score twice today and to be important for the team. I also hope to perform well against Dynamo Kiev but we first have to focus on next week's match against Sint-Truiden." (TM)
