Hans Vanaken: "We don't quit"

Nothing but joy as Hans Vanaken's Club beat Gent at its own turf. The Golden Boot winner seemed to be putting the game beyond doubt, unbeknownst that the VAR would be thinking differently.

"We had a rough start to the game, it took a bit of getting used to, but after that we found our way into the game. In the second half, they put more pressure, but without creating real danger. Their threats mainly came through crosses, trying to reach their tall players, Sørloth and Yaremchuk. I reckon we managed to stay clear of that danger, however. It's a vital win with next weekend's game in mind. We'll be putting our best foot forward, it's really important we win that game. After that there's a rough game at Standard, but the same goes for Genk, visiting Anderlecht. It's a bit frustrating that we're having such a great run these Play-Offs spelen, but that Genk does even better. Fortunately we get the chance to creep closer again next week. We're not taking into account that they can win the league on our grounds too, it's a scenario we absolutely want to avoid. I'd rather be six points ahead than six behind, obviously, but rest assured that as far we are concerned, the race is not run just yet." (TM)
