Ivan Leko: “Solid team”
Just like against Atlético on Tuesday, Ivan Leko's outfit kept it at 0-0 against KV Kortrijk. The result will have a more bitter aftertaste this time, however.
“When it comes to mentality and stamina, we did everything we could to win this game. I saw a solid team, that knew what to do in ball loss and in possession. It wasn't easy playing football under these weather conditions. We were dominant against an in-form opponent, creating three or four good chances. To boot, our goal got denied, but that decision can be debated. We were in control, and knew what we wanted to do. Sometimes you need that little bit of magic to bring a game home, and we lacked in that compartment today.”
The draw makes it a dreary record for Club, earning just 10 out of the possible thirty points. “That is a problem, but claiming a point here is in itself not bad. It was in the games against Zulte Waregem and Waasland-Beveren that we really shouldn't have missed out on the points. If we win those games, it would have been a different situation entirely."
Club's final mission of the year is a home game vs Antwerp, who is level with Club in second place. “We will have to bring a lot of energy to the table against Antwerp, and seize the moment, something we lacked doing today. With the quality of our selection, I'm sure we can do better than what we showed in the past couple of games. It's a real pity that both Vormer and Denswil are suspended. Recently Vormer has been reaching the level he played at last season, while Denswil's is one of the first names on the board in defense. We will be missing them on Sunday.” (SF)
