Ivan Leko: “Winners' mentality and character”

Two games down the track, Club is still to drop a single point. In dire circumstances, coach Ivan Leko's men proved able to get past a fiery home side.

“Playing one man down for eighty minutes, you can only be happy if you come out on top 0-1. The first half saw a mediocre Club; many players were unable to copy last week's performance. Our second half was of much higher quality. We showed our team has a winners' mentality and character to boost. We lacked that second goal. We deserved winning this, even if Mouscron showed they also hold a lot of quality.”

An early dismissal of Wesley proved troublesome for Blauw-Zwart. “He's had a rough Summer. He's called twenty times a day by manager to indicate how much he can earn elsewhere, so it's hard to focus. Keep in mind he's only 21 years old. He's been working hard at training, but these conditions always play in your mind. But that's no excuse for what he did today. He was excellent vs Standard and Eupen, but he needs to get rid of these actions.” (SF)
