Man United beaten 2-0 at Anfield

Manchester United lost the top game against Liverpool. Van Dijk and Salah scored against Solskjær's men.

The hosts broke deadlock after fifteen minutes play when Virgil Van Dijk rose highest to head in a corner kick. On the half-hour mark Firmino looked to decide the game when he doubled the lead, but the Brazilian saw his goal chalked off by the VAR as Van Dijk had fouled De Gea a few moments before.

Minutes later Wijnaldum found the back of the net as well, but he had just strayed offside so his goal was disallowed as well.

Manchester United were still very much in the game and that boosted the visitors' confidence. Martial and Fred tried their luck, but failed to hit the target. Deep into stoppage time Liverpool put the game to bed when goalkeeper Becker found Salah. The Egyptian rushed towards goal and slotted home past De Gea.

Apart from the defeat there was more bad news for coach Solskjær. Top striker Marcus Rashford suffers from a back injury after the FA Cup game against Wolves. He will be out for six weeks and likely miss both games against Club Brugge in the Europa League. (SF)
