Mats Rits: “Happy with the one point at Genk”

Having put in a solid performance vs KV Ostend, Mats Rits was once again preferred over Ruud Vormer. The Antwerp-born player played well, and had a number of chances to put his name on the score line.

“In view of the upcoming Champions League game, this result boosts our confidence. We had a tough start to the game, but managed to find our way into it a bit better later on. We knew this was going to be a high-octane game, but we were well in control in the remaining seventy minutes. We may even have deserved a win, but a point away at Genk is always good. Genk has a very strong outfit, and will be competing for the top prizes this season. The coach decides on who plays and who doesn't. I always try to grab the chances I get, whether it be on the six or on the eight position. I started on this position two games in a row, but it might be the coach decides differently on Tuesday. At training he always puts me in both positions. After ten years as a pro, I should be able to hack both assignments.” (KV)
