Hans VANAKEN

“Deserved this win through stamina and will power”

A massive performance by Hans Vanaken, scoring the equaliser after twenty minutes. “I reckon we deserve this win. It's a pity we took that early goal, though. But the way in which we reacted was good. We showed stamina to fight our way back, and managed to seal the deal in the first half. In the first as well as in the second half, we had plenty of chances to widen the gap, but unfortunately we were unable to finish them off. A 3 or 4-1 would not have been exaggerated.”
The Limburg midfielder played quite the game. “This may well have been my best performance in these PO's. I'm happy with the goal topping of my game. Today's performance was a good collective effort. That gives us hope as we take on the away game at Charleroi next Friday.” (LPD)

Dorin ROTARIU

“Happy with the trust bestowed by coach and team”

A second consecutive start for Dorin Rotariu, with as cherry on the cake the winning goal, his first in Club jersey. “I'm very happy with today's win. The coach and the entire team motivated me with the confidence they bestow upon me. I know I have to work hard to get my spot in the team, but I keep doing my very best.”
Come minute 40, Rotariu curled in Club's lead, resulting in a celebration with coach Michel Preud’homme. “I went for our coach to celebrate my goal with him and the rest of the team. When your coach is someone with the personality and the list of honours like Michel Preud’homme, both as a goalie and as a coach, you make the most of every bit of advice he gives.” (LPD)

Ruud VORMER

“Now go for the away win”

With Timmy Simons out suspended, Ruud Vormer put on the captain's band. “I can only be positve about this game. We started out bad, and conceded the 0-1 after a corner kick. We knew they were dangerous in these situations, but still they took us by surprise. We stood up, and went over them, with a deserved win. Our mentality was top notch today. We all see the will to make it. In football, sometimes it goes well, other times it doesn't, particularly when compared to our start to the play-offs. We now need to go and win away games, in Charleroi and in Ostend. We're stronger when we play at home, but we need to confirm this in away games too. We keep going like this, our play is getting better. You can feel that the crowd is following our lead. If we keep playing like this, we can cause pain to any team, also in away games.”
In the second half, a gruesome tackle by Dalsgaard could have seriously hampered Ruud Vormer. "I love the odd hard tackle on the ball. I have just returned form suspension, so when that tackle came, I didn't go full force. If I had, he would have hit my leg and I would have been out. But well, referees can make mistakes just like players do. On Friday, we'll making our way to Charleroi, that'll be a tough game. But in our league game, we had plenty of chances there, so we'll see how it goes.” (KN)

Michel PREUD’HOMME

“Players showed what the audience likes”

Michel Preud’homme was first row witness to a great team performance resulting in a well-deserved win. "Just like we did against Ostend, we had a rough start to the game, but just like then we put in a very good performance. With some fine football, lots of intensity, a lot of movement, with a logical win as a result. The players showed just what the audience likes. We were the team that had claimed from the start of the season that we wanted to go for the title, something other teams never did. That may have come with some added pressure, but the team handled pressure well in the past.”
Club's T1 also had some words of praise for Hans Vanaken and debutant Ahmed Touba. “Vanaken had already played well against Ostend, even if I normally wouldn't have lined him up. But he stood up, and showed he got the message. Touba had already shown his skills at training, he deserved a shot with the big guys. He did quite well.”
Preud’homme also gave his two cents about Henrik Dalsgaard's tackling Ruud Vormer. “He should have been sent off, but he wasn't even penalised. I'm sure he will have to pay a visit to my friends at the Review Commission, get suspended and miss out on other games. That'll be an extra advantage to our opponents.” (SF)
