Ruud Vormer: “Fortunately Hans was able to retain his cool”
After an intense game in Austria, Ruud Vormer offered his views on the topic of the evening: the spot kick. On the brink of off-side, Loïs Openda was brought down inside the box, and it took a while for the VAR to give Hans Vanaken the go-ahead to tap in Club's, and the game's, sole goal of the evening.
“That VAR decision was a long time in the making. Fortunately for us Hans managed to retain his cool. I haven't seen the footage just yet, but apparently there was an off-side VAR appeal. I have trouble getting my head around it at times. The coin fell our way this time, while we were unlucky against Eupen on Friday. We had our fair share of clear chances in the second half. With a bit more cleverness up front, we might have even made it 0-2. But all things considered we can only be happy with this result." (SFK)
