Siebe Schrijvers: “Mature performance”
With two goals, Siebe Schrijvers underlined his fine form, and his importance in the broad 4-0 win over KV Ostend. Fifteen minutes played, Siebe eagerly tipped in a pull-back by Mats Rits, only to double his tally by tapping in a saved Denswil free kick.
“We owe it to ourselves to having made this an easy game. We started out well, and proved efficient. Thanks to the VAR, we got that penalty kick. As the ref went to see the footage, that must have been a correct decision. We put a lot of forward pressure, playing a dominant game and hardly giving them any chances. A very mature performance. The entire team was fine today. I'm happy with the two goals I scored, but that's not what matters most. I'm just very happy with this win. Finally another victory, that has been some time in the making. It's not okay for a team the likes of Club Brugge, we need to try and get back in that winning flow. We took a good stap today. The link-up with Rits is working smoothly; we all know what he's capable of, playing on Nakamba's position, but also in Ruud's position. By the end of the game I went down, because I felt a contact. The pain is still lingering a bit, I'm sure I'll be stiff tomorrow. I now have two days to receover." (KN)
