Simon Mignolet: “Continue like this against Anderlecht"

Chances for Cercle were small pickings, but still Simon Mignolet was chanceless against the second half equaliser. Fortunately, Deli's goal made the points go Club's way.

"I knew it wouldn't be an easy game against this Cercle, as they have been in a finer form at the start of the season than they had last season. It's because Cercle was better established as a whole that we had a rough time claiming this win, so I'm happy with the three points. Even if we almost shot ourselves in the foot with that early goal we conceded the second half. Fortunately we picked ourselves up, dusted off, and managed to create the difference through a textbook situation."

As to whether or not a penalty should have been awarded, Mignolet claimed he hadn't seen the footage just yet. "So it's hard to debate. I was getting ready for that spotkick when the sign came that it got cancelled out. But that's where we had a lucky break", the Limburg goalie admitted.

Club's goalie is looking forward to the two events coming up shortly, the CL draw and the game against Anderlecht. "Two things I'm really looking forward to. It'll be one hefty draw, definitely, but we already showed last season we haven't given a bad impression last season either. And it should be our endeavour again to try and survive that European winter. A trip to Liverpool is no must, but it would be grand, obviously, and I haven't played that many games on Italian soil either. We'll see on Thursday. And on Sunday there's the big game in the home league, facing Anderlecht in a duel between two teams set on playing fine football. We hope to be continuing along the same lines as we did in the past couple of weeks." (MV)
