Simon Mignolet: “Winning 6-0 is just great”

With a great reflex in the opening minute, Simon Mignolet kept Club from a bad start, but afterwards, the Bruges goalie sat back and relaxed as Club sailed towards a broad 0-6 win at Zulte Waregem. Another clean sheet was the goalie's share.

“Yes, you could say things went smoothly today, as the job had been done after half an hour. We made it easy on ourselves today. Still, the first five minutes could have been better, with that one big chance for Zulte. But then we scored from a corner kick, and were up 0-4 after thirty minutes. And that in a game we expected to be tough. We've had some fiery games in the past here, most of the times with a rugid and sturdy Zulte Waregem side. We expected more of that today. But if you go on winning 6-0, it just adds to your self-confidence. Some of our guys who haven't been able to score in the past couple of weeks, managed to score this time. And that reflects on all of us. After our lesser start to the season, we're now back on track. We take this with us, we're happy and are looking forward to the next game.”

A couple of fine goals for Club too. “I reckon Hans' goal was really well played out, with a great cross by Ruud. And Hans also had that bit of magic as he teed up Charles in the second half. Michael Krmenčík scoring his goals too, one of them with a superb touch. Cutting away and then firing it in like that, just waw. It's great for him, and we're all happy too. In the second half, our mission was to keep a clean sheet. Due to all sorts of circumstances, we haven't been able to do so this season. Particularly when you're 4-0 up, it's never easy to stay focused. But we managed to do so, so mission accomplished.” (KN)
