Simon Mignolet won the Golden Boot 2022, while Casper Nielsen and Mike Trésor (Genk) completed the podium. For the first time in 33 years, a goalkeeper manages to win this award, following Michel Preud'homme in 1989.
Simon proved more than ever his great class in the league and play-offs last year and was of vital importance in Blauw-Zwart's successful Champions League campaign. Following his award for Goalkeeper of the Year, he now also wins the top prize and can call himself the 2022 Golden Boot.
Mignolet's victory means that for the fifteenth time a Club Brugge players can take the Golden Boot home. He is only the sixth goalkeeper in Belgian history to win the award.
