Brandon Mechele is a tall, sturdy central defender with lots of duelling power. Fiesty tackling and fine acceleration make sure Brandon is hardly ever at fault. Having the qualities is one thing; Brandon also possesses the typical dedication needed to make it in today's world of football.
Born on 28 January 1993 in Bredene, Brandon joins Club Brugge after just two years with his local outfit, going through the youth ranks of Club. Having started at the age of six, a more clear Club Brugge product is hard to come by. His coaches taught him the tricks of the trade to make it as a right-footed central defender, but he is also capable of filling the right back position. An eager student, he has also developed his left foot, making sure he is two-footed.
Ever the modest player, a combination of hard work, focus and ambition have taken Brandon to the seniors, making his debut in May 2013, coming on for Victor Vazquez in the dying minutes of the PO game vs SC Lokeren. One week later, he manned the pitch at Standard at the expense of Jørgensen.
The following seasons, Mechele often played alongside his buddy Bjorn Engels. The arrival of Stefano Denswil pushed him back one knotch, however. A six month loan spell at Sint-Truiden offered him lots of playing time, and it looks like he is ready to take up the gauntlet for a place in Blauw-Zwart's starting line-up.
