The first signing after Club won the league in 2018, was that of Mats Rits. Newly relegated KV Mechelen allowed the midfielder a transfer on May 29, 2018, after having been at Mechelen for five years as the team's captain. With his energy, passion and stamina, Rits will allow more options for Club's T1.
Regarded a top talent by many, Rits signed hsi first contract at the age of 16, joining Germinal Beerschot. His renown further grew as he scored two goals in his debut, attracting even more attention from teams from both inside and outside of Belgium. Two years and 24 games at Beerschot later on, he made the move to Ajax, joining the first team and disputing a number of friendly games. A number of injuries kept Rits from playing official games at Amsterdam, and in January 2013, he decided to move back to KV Mechelen, where he quickly took control of midfield. In 5.5 years at Malinwa, he featured in 155 games, and was voted most valuable player in 2016.
At Club Brugge, wasted no time either. In the 2019-2020 season, he managed to score a couple of buzzer beaters, helping Club to some very valuable three pointers. In February, he was voted Player of the Month, and on 6 March 2020, he penned a new deal binding him for four more years.
