Éder Álvarez Balanta and Mbaye Diagne join Club Brugge

Midfielder Éder Álvarez Balanta signed a three-year deal with Club Brugge. Forward Mbaye Diagne joined on a loan deal from Galatasaray, with an option to buy.

Club Brugge landed Éder Álvarez Balanta as the replacer for Marvellous Nakamba who joined Aston Villa this summer. Balanta (26) is a left-footed defensive midfielder who can play in defence as well. He joins from Swiss outfit FC Basel 1893. The Colombian earned eight international call-ups so far and was part of the WC 2014 selection.

FC Basel eliminated PSV in the preliminaries of the Champions League, Balanta played ninety minutes in those two games.

 

Balanta leaves Switzerland with some silverware. He won the title once and the Swiss cup twice. At River Plate he had won the Copa Libertadores en the Copa Sudamericana.

Mbaye Diagne will give Philippe Clement more options in attack. Last season record champions Galatasaray signed Diagne from Kasimpasa. The 27-year-old was the most succesful striker in the Turkish first division with 30 goals. Club Brugge have agreed a loan spell for one season with an option to buy.
