Alfred Schreuder replaces Philippe Clement as head coach of Club Brugge.
Schreuder (49) brings a lot of European experience with him. The Dutchman was head coach at Twente and Hoffenheim as well as assistant coach at Vitesse, Twente, Ajax and FC Barcelona, among others. Schreuder recently turned down an offer from Swiss top club FC Basel. The former Feyenoord player will join the squad tonight at the training camp in Marbella, Spain. Training today was led by the trio De Mil, Hoefkens and De Mets.
Also joining them in the wake of Alfred Schreuder is assistant Danijel Zenkovic. Zenkovic (34) comes over from Werder Bremen where he was T2. The fluent Dutch-speaking Austrian was previously employed at De Toekomst, Ajax Amsterdam's youth academy, among other positions. Goalkeeper trainer Frederic De Boever will be replaced by Carlo L'Ami. The 55-year-old Dutchman was goalkeeper coach at Ajax 1 for 13 years. Both, like Schreuder, will sign an open-ended contract at Club.
Schreuder, Zenkovic and L'Ami together with Hoefkens and De Mets and physical coaches Rob and Vandenbussche complete the coaching staff of Club 1.
