Bas Dost: “This goal immediately boosts morale"

Bas Dost immediately showed why Club signed him. The Dutch striker was off the mark quickly and paved the way for a great first half of the blue and black.

"This goal is great for my morale. It was a brilliant cross from Charles. When I saw the ball coming, I knew right away that this was going to be a big chance to get my first goal. I'm confident to hit the ball right away so I have to show that. The cross was perfect and I timed my effort perfectly to hit the ball on the sweet spot. I'm new in this group and the players are still figuring out how to feed me the ball. We've been training a lot on that the past week. Noa picked me out with a cross as well, unfortunately I couldn't get on the end of that to head in. I've only been here a week, but I'm happy."

Bas Dost only played one half in his first game, but played a big part in the win. "I was subbed at half-time because I felt a bit of pain in my upper leg. I've done a lot of shooting exercises and today that played a role. At half-time I suggested to be taken off and the coach agreed with me. That's why Club signed me, to score goals. It was an important victory today. Sometimes we could've done better, but the important thing is that we leave with the three points. It's the only team with an artificial pitch, so that's behind us now. On to the next game." (KN)
