Brandon Mechele saw a dominant Club, but Gent proved most efficient. Blue-Black lost 0-3 and as a result was eliminated from the Cup of Belgium.
"We started the game with a 1-0 lead, but after two minutes it was gone. And then it was a complete restart. The first half we were dominant and had the ball. We had a lot of stoppages and corner kicks that we didn't do enough with. On their second chance, they scored again. We were a little upset, but still we continued to play our game. We found the spaces and tried to be dangerous. After the red card, however, things became difficult. They collapsed more and played on the counter. Right after that card it became 0-3 and then the books were down. Expectations were high, but we didn't live up to them. We have to become more constant in our performance."
Club found themselves down to ten men in the second half. "Tissoudali hung onto Odoi and he tried to pull away. Too bad he just let go of his arm and hit his face. That's not intentional, you never want to hit him. Denis also has plenty of experience. Too bad about the timing, because that made it difficult. But we continue to believe in ourselves and in the game we want to play. Only we have to be a little more realistic. Now disappointment prevails. Club can't dwell long on this cup elimination, Saturday already marks the move to Seraing. "The deficit is seven points. There is work to do for us. It's good that that match is coming soon, though.
