Casper Nielsen got playing minutes in the closing stages, but Blauw-Zwart came up with no more than a draw against KV Mechelen.
"We wanted to get the three points today. In the first half, however, it looked good. Mechelen had few chances and we created danger, but the finishing was lacking. We also started the second half well, but it was more open with Mechelen's danger. But in summary, we were a little disappointed. Also with the red card, that happens in soccer. With ten men at the end, it was hard to keep attacking. It was balancing between holding the point and attacking for that second goal. The stadium wanted to push us forward and the supporters helped us. But we also had to keep our heads up and not give anything away at the back."
Club started the match strongly, but could not yet bring high pressing for the entire match. "It's difficult to keep pressure for ninety minutes. You have to accept that and then once you start to stand more compactly. That way the opponent can't force anything. You rest a bit and then you get back the energy to put pressure. We tried to do that today, but it didn't work out in the end. Before the red card, we felt we would still find that second goal. There are still plenty of good things from this match that we can take to later. Sometimes we won balls under high pressure, we should be able to force more chances from that, for example." (KN)
