It'll be the 173th confrontation in the Belgian top flight between the two sides. Club won 41 games of the previous 86 home fixtures against Anderlecht (last time 2-1 on 22/09/2019). On 27 occassions the spoils were shared (last time 1-1 on 14/05/2017) and eighteen games were lost (last time 1-2 on 06/05/2018).

The opponent

End of August Vincent Kompany ended his playing career and became Anderlecht's official coach, the club where he made his official debut as a player. He won the 2004 and 2006 championship and lifted the Golden Boot in 2005.

 

This summer Anderlecht bid a few players goodbye: Kemar Roofe (Rangers), Edo Kayembe (KAS Eupen), Pieter Gerkens (R. Antwerp FC) and Andy Nájar (Los Angeles FC). Alex Saelemaeckers (AC Milan), Sven Kums (KAA Gent), Thomas Didillon (Cercle Brugge), Kristal Abazaj (Istanbulspor), Abdoul Karim Danté (RWDM), James Lawrence (FC St. Pauli) and Davy Roef left on a permanent transfer after they had played on loan last year.

The loan spells of Marko Pjaca (Juventus, now CFC Genoa), Philippe Sandler (Manchester City FC), Nacer Chadli (AS Monaco, now Istanbul Basaksehir) and Dejan Joveljic (Eintracht Frankfurt, now Wolfsberger AC) came to an end.

 

Percy Tau signed a one-year loan deal from Brighton. Last year the South-African forward played on loan at Jan Breydel. He scored four goals in 30 games. Anderlecht also welcomed the following players:

  • Goalkeepers: Timon Wellenreuther (Willem II) and Bart Verbruggen (NAC Breda)
  • Defenders: Bogdan Mykhaylichenko (FC Zorya Luhansk), Ognjen Vranjes (back from a loan spell at AEK Athene)
  • Forwards: Lukas Nmecha (on loan from Manchester City FC), Mustapha Bundu (Aarhus CF), Ilias Takidine (KRC Genk)

 

RSC Anderlecht scored at least one goal in every game in the Jupiler Pro League. Only Sporting Charleroi and OHL can produce the same statistic. Both Anderlecht and Charleroi are the only teams who are still unbeaten in the Jupiler Pro League.

With an average age of 23,66 years, Anderlecht has the second youngest team in the first division. Only Waasland-Beveren (23,26) has a younger team.

 

Last season Anderlecht finished eighth in the Jupiler Pro League which was their worst result in the top flight in 82 years. Club Brugge is the only team that has always finished top six since the introduction of the Play-Offs system in 2009.

Mats Rits can play his 90th official game for Club. David Okereke can play his 40th game, Federico Ricca his 20th.

For Krépin Diatta and Siebe Schrijvers it can be their 60th league match for Club.

Simon Mignolet can play his 100th game in the Belgian league. So far he played 65 league games for STVV and 34 for Club Brugge.
