Club - Anderlecht: Club Facts

Club, who won the third title in a row last week, will welcome Anderlecht tomorrow for the last match of the Champions' Play-offs. The blue and black can end the season in beauty at Jan Breydel.

It is the 180th confrontation in the Belgian first division between both teams and the 90th in Bruges. The 89 previous home games ended in 42 wins (last 3-0 on 04/10/2020), 29 draws (last 2-2 on 19/12/2021) and 18 defeats (last 1-2 on 17/12/2017) for Club.

Club lost once in the last eleven home games against RSCA (7W 3D). If Club can score on Sunday, it will have a run of 15 consecutive home games in which it hit the target. In the last 6 home games against RSCA, Club was unable to win (5D 1L). This season, all duels with purple-white ended in a draw. In the regular competition it ended 2-2 at Jan Breydel and 1-1 in the Lotto Park. In the Champions' Play-offs, the game at Anderlecht was the only one in which Club could not score (0-0).

Anderlecht and Club are the two best scoring teams in the play-offs. Both clubs scored 7 goals in 5 matches. If Club stays unbeaten against Anderlecht, it will extend its non-losing streak in the league to 14 matches and can build on that next season. Only 16 times, Club had a longer unbeaten streak.

For the first time, Club can end the play-offs without a single defeat. Only RSC Anderlecht (2009-10), R. Standard de Liège (2010-11) and KRC Genk (2020-21) managed this. Club could, provided they win, equal last season's record of most points per match (2.67) held by KRC Genk. Club became champions for the first time since the play-off era while not entering the play-offs as leaders. In both 2015-16, 2017-18 and 2020-21, Club were already league leaders after the regular competition.

Club managed to open the scoring in 29 games this season. If Club manages to do the same on Sunday, it will be the first team to break deadlock 30 times since Anderlecht (32) in the 2009-10 season. Hans Vanaken already scored 13 goals against Anderlecht in the Belgian top flight, including 10 for Club and 2 on his debut for Sporting Lokeren in 2013.

It is Club's 21st and last official match under coach Alfred Schreuder, who will join AFC Ajax (Net) next season. He gathered 80.0% (15W 3D 2L) of the points, which is the best result ever for a Club coach. This makes him better than Eric Gerets (71.7%), Sollied (71.1%), Broos (68.6%), Happel (66.4%), Daum (64.5%), Houwaart (63.9%), Clement (63.6%), Preud'homme (62.6%), Leko (61.6%) and Koster (57.4%), among others.

The last club to visit Jan Breydel this season is RSC Anderlecht, who'll end this season in third place. It's the first time they finish in the top three since the 2017-18 season (also third). In the Champions' play-offs, Anderlecht won twice against Antwerp (0-4 and 2-1), but lost the Brussels derby twice against Union (3-1 and 0-2).

Next season, Anderlecht has to try to get into the UEFA Europa League group stage, but it has to survive 2 preliminary rounds. Joshua Zirkzee is Anderlechts's top marksman, with 16 goals. Sergio Gómez is the assist king with eleven key passes.

It's Kompany's eighth match as a coach against Club Brugge. The previous seven fixtures resulted in one win, one defeat and five draws. Yari Verscharen can play his 100th game for Anderlecht. He can be the youngest player (20 years, 314 days) to reach that milestone since Youri Tielemans (19 years, 8 days). Anderlecht will have to do without Michael Murillo who's suspended following his straight red card in the match against Union.

Simon Mignolet can play his 140th official match for Club and his 170th in the first division. Apart from the 130 league games for Club, he played 66 games for STVV.

Charles De Ketelaere can play his 120th game for the blue and black and his 90th league game. For Stanley Nsoki it can be his 40th match.

Lothar D'Hondt had been appointed referee for this season's closing match. Romain Devillers and Philippe Vandecauter are the assistant referees. Jonathan Lardot is the fourth official. Bert Put is the video assistant referee, assisted by Mathias Hillaert and Mario Vanlommel.
