Club beat KV Kortrijk 2-1

Club Brugge have secured a well-deserved 2-1 win against KV Kortrijk. Stojanovic canceled out Diaby's opener, but after lots and lots of chances Limbombe finally found the back of the net to keep the three points home.

Ivan Leko wrote down the same eleven names on his tactical board as he did the week before when Club visited Standard. Club Brugge soon enough created the first chances. Diaby rushed past his defender smoothly before playing a cut-back inside the path of Vormer, but the skipper skied the first real chance of the game. A few minutes later Vanaken saw his effort go over the crossbar as well, while visiting goalkeeper Kaminski thwarted the midfielder a few minutes later with a foot save.

After the high-tempo start, the pace of the game slowed down due to Kortrijk's defensive organization which made it more difficult for the Blues to find an opening. It took the visitors twenty minutes to give their travelling fans something to applaud for, but D'Haene curled his free-kick largely over the target. On the other side of the pitch Kaminski had to react well on a deflection by Denswil.

Club's best chance fell to Wesley who placed the ball wide on a cut-back by Vormer, after the Dutchman was denied by Kaminski on a brilliant pass by Denswil.

The visiting goalkeeper proved his great form when he tipped away Mitrović' header and palmed away Vormer's effort. Club were eager to break the deadlock before the half-time break but were unfortunate when Diaby hit the target and Clasie's volley sailed just wide.

After the break the Blues showed even more desire to score the opener and that mindset paid off quickly. First Cools' shot whizzed just past the target, but it was Diaby who side-footed Kaminski after he had latched onto a raking pass by Vanaken and beat two Kortrijk defenders.

Club Brugge were in the driving seat right after the start of the second half and almost doubled their lead right away, but a last-ditch tackle by Makarenko stopped Limbombe and Vormer's shot was deflected over the goal.

The Blues had the game under control, but on the hour-mark Ajagun went down easily inside the box and Stojanovic equalised from the spot. Club upped the tempo again, but Kaminski was equal to the attempts of Wesley and Mitrović, while Limbombe blasted his effort over the target. Club's goalie Vermeer was called upon to tip away Papazoglou's powerful header.

Club Brugge were in complete command and swept away the opposition in the final quarter of the game. Dennis was just too late to slide in Vormer's cross, Mechele's header went wide and Diaby's shot was blocked. Ten minutes before the end Club finally took the lead again. Vormer picked out Limbombe at the far post with a perfect cross and the winger fired in brilliantly. In the closing minutes Denswil placed a free-kick wide at the target and Kaminski saved another attempt of Limbombe, while Kortrijk wanted a second spot kick in stoppage time.

The score remained 2-1 and Club are back to winning ways since the last league win end of January. As Charleroi only got one point out of their game, Anderlecht are now second in the league trailing the Blues by twelve points.
