Club beats KV Ostend in a 2-1 win

Club Brugge kept the three points home against KV Oostende following a 2-1 win. The blue and black conceded an unlucky own goal by Mata after fifteen minutes play, but turned it around through Bas Dost and Krépin Diatta and Mignolet kept out a penalty by Sakala.

Philippe Clement made one change to this line-up compared to Sunday's game against Beerschot: Federico Ricca forced Eduard Sobol on the bench. Hans Vanaken sat out his last of three match bans and saw Charles De Ketelaere play on his position again. For Bas Dost it was his first game at Jan Breydel. The Dutchman played in the center of the three-man attack with Diatta and Lang.

Fifth placed KV Oostende visited Jan Breydel brimming with confidence after a serie of good performances, but it was Club that made the first move. De Ketelaere went past a couple of defenders before crossing the ball low in front of goal, but Diatta couldn't get at the end of it. After a quarter of an hour the visitors took the lead when they scored on the break. Mata scored an unfortunate own goal as Kossounou tried to clear a low cross by Sakala and hit Mata while doing so.

Club responed with a lob by Lang and a shot by Vormer, but it was KVO that created the best chances. Under pressure by Mata, Sakala just couldn't finish and Mignolet was forced into making a good diving save on an effort by the same Sakala.

After those chances, Club upped the tempo and immediately pulled level. First Lang hit the post from an acute angle on a De Ketelaere cross, but when Vormer picked out Bas Dost on a corner kick, the Dutchman headed in the equaliser. His third goal in three matches.

Club powered through and almost scored a second. Diatta pulled back from the byline, but failed to get the ball into the path of Vormer. Immediatelly after the half-time break Castro parried away an effort by Diatta, but Dost was too surprised to tap in the rebound. Four minutes into the second half, Club took the lead nevertheless. Vormer sent Diatta through on goal and the Senegalese slotted home.

A great start of the second half, but only a few minutes after Diatta's goal, Wim Smet pointed to the spot following a handball by Kossounou. Sakala behind the ball, but Mignolet kept out his spot kick and the rebound went wide. KVO wanted another penalty. Bataille and Gueye went down easily inside the box, the referee let play continue twice.

Club wanted a reassuring third goal. Rits and De Ketelaere saw their shots saved by Castro, Dost hit the outside of the post from a difficult angle.

With a late push KV Oostende tried to get at least one point out of this game. Bätzner scuffed a finish wide, while Sakala found Mignolet again. The goalie also tipped Tanghe's header over the crossbar and palmed away Skulason's free-kick.

But the score remained in favour of the blue and black, who widen the gap with Genk who face AA Gent tomorrow. On Sunday Club entertains Genk at Jan Breydel.
