Lawrence Visser has been appointed referee for this game. His assistants are Mr. Dirk Gilan and Mr. Pieter Becquet. Mr. Bram Van Driessche is the fourth official. It will already be Visser's fifth game as a referee for the Blues this season.The referee from Beerse celebrated his 28th birthday last Monday. Earlier this season he refereed the home games against KV Mechelen (2-0) and Antwerp (1-0) and the away games at Zulte Waregem (1-2) and Eupen (2-2).
In total, Visser already refereed eight Club games. Club won all of the four home games refereed by Mr. Visser. Mr. Visser was also the Man in Black for the Christmas game between Club and Moeskroen last year on December 26. The game then ended 2-1.
Club's 46th and final game of 2017 is the home game against R. Excel Mouscron. Last Wednesday Club Brugge won easily on the field of KV Mechelen, 0-3. Captain Ruud Vormer opened the score after 20 minutes from the penalty point. The Brazilian attacker doubled the lead on assist of Anthony Limbombe. Seth De Witte got a red card just before half-time. Aboudlay Diaby finally made the third Club goal of the evening after an awesome collective performance of the Blues. The red card for Hassane Bandé, the second one for the home team, did not change the score anymore.
Ruud Vormer already scored his third penalty this season. Club did not miss a penalty yet this season. Vomer's goal was the 295th Dutch goal in Club history. With 33 goals, Ruud Vomer now scored the same amount of goals as Ruud Geels. Foeke Booy and Robbie Rensenbrink are the only Dutch players that scored more for the Blues. They scored, respectively, 64 and 36 goals.
Wesley Moraes already scored for the sixth time this season. In total he now scored 15 goals for the Blues which makes him the best scoring Brazilian attacker ever at Club. Felipe Gedoz (12 goals) and Victor Simões de Oliveira (10 goals) are left behind him.
Anthony Limbombe and Dion Cools put their number of assists at Club Brugge on, respectively, nine and seven. Abdoulay Diaby tops the goalscorer ranking at Club with 7 goals now. It was his 27th goal for FCB.
R. Excel Mouscron is, together with KRC Genk, the only team that beated the Blues this season. On fixture 6, Jonathan Bolingi opened the score from the penalty point. Stefano Denswil made the equalizer soon afterwards but Bolingi scored again. The score did not change anymore after half-time and Club led their first defeat of the season.
Excel Moeskroen was founded in 2010. Club won all three home games played against this team. The game between both teams on Jan Breydel had place exactly one year ago and ended 2-1.
Club did now realize a series of 40 home games without defeat. They did not lose anymore at home for two years. If they do not lose against Excel Moeskroen, it will be the second consecutive caldendar year without defeat.
Between 5/04/2003 and 10/09/2005, Club realized a series of 41 home games without defeat, the second biggest series ever. The Club-record still dates back to the period 18/01/1976-18/03/1979 when a series of 55 games without defeat was realized.
Club now scored in 71 consecutive home games which is both a Belgian and a Club record.
In 95 seasons in the Belgian First Division, Club could only win their first ten home games of the season three times, in 1910-11, 1997-98 and 2002-03.
Marvelous Nakamba, Saulo Decarli, Abdoulay Diaby and Anthony Limbombe have to avoid a yellow card. Otherwise, they will have to miss the first match of 2018, on the field of R. Antwerp FC.
Moeskroen knew an excellent season start under Mircea Rednic. They obtained 13 points out of their first six games and were ranked third at that time. However, they could not win anymore for ten consecutive games afterwards until the game against KV Ostend. On fixture 19, Amallah made the sole goal of the evening. On Saturday evening, Moeskroen beated Zulte Waregem 2-1.
Excel Moeskroen obtained eight points out of nine away games. They won their first two away games of this season: at KV Ostend (0-1) and Lokeren (0-2). Afterwards they drew against KV Kortrijk (1-1) and KRC Genk (1-1) and lost against Zulte Waregem (2-1), STVV (2-1), Waasland Beveren (2-0), AA Gent (3-1) and Antwerp (1-0).
On December 12, Olivier Werner signed a contract at Moeskroen. The 32-year-old goalkeeper had no team after playing for i.e. Cercle Brugge, KV Mechelen and Standard earlier.
R. Excel Moeskroen have the youngest starting eleven in the Jupiler Pro League with an average age of 24.36 years. Club are ranked fourth with an average age of 24.93 years.
