The Club Brugge Legends put in a handsome international performance at the MFE Walking Football Tournament in Mallorca. On the Spanish island, the Blauw-Zwart walking footballers crowned themselves winners in the 65+ category.
From May 14 to 18, the team headed to Santa Ponça, where walking soccer teams from different countries came together for several days full of soccer, meeting and fun. On the outdoor fields of the Santa Ponça Complex, the Club Brugge Legends competed against international opponents and proved that soccer fun knows no age.
International victory
Our Blue-Black walking soccer players competed in the category for men over 65. During the tournament, they worked through several matches according to the official KNVB rules for walking soccer: six against six, without a goalkeeper and on small goals.
After a strong run, the Legends qualified for the final against Spain's Playa Flamenca Walking Wanderers. In an exciting final battle, they kept their cool and won after penalties. As a result, they deservedly won the tournament.
More than just soccer
The tournament was about more than just performance on the field. Because the matches were spread over several days, there was also time to hang out together as a team and discover Mallorca. That combination of sporting challenge, team spirit and international meeting made the experience extra special for our walking soccer players.
With their performance, the Club Brugge Legends show once again that age does not have to be a barrier to keep playing sports actively. Through their weekly training sessions, they keep moving, strengthen the group atmosphere and proudly carry the Club Brugge colors.
Club Brugge Foundation warmly congratulates all players with this wonderful achievement and is proud of the way they have represented Club internationally and are already looking forward to their next sporting challenges.
