Club Brugge take on national and international responsibility

Chairman Bart Verhaeghe – European Football Clubs & UEFA Club Competitions Committee

Chairman Bart Verhaeghe has recently been elected to the Board of Directors of European Football Clubs (EFC), the leading representative body for European clubs, currently uniting more than 800 members across the continent. The organisation was formerly known as the European Club Association (ECA).

On 1 December 2025, Bart Verhaeghe further strengthened his influence at European level with his election to the EFC Executive Committee. As the primary voice of Europe’s clubs, EFC plays a pivotal role in shaping key strategic issues such as the commercialisation of European media rights, the transfer system, the international match calendar, and Financial Fair Play. On all these matters, EFC represents the collective interests of its member clubs in discussions with UEFA and FIFA, actively contributing to the future direction of the game.

In September 2025, Bart Verhaeghe was also unanimously elected by EFC to the UEFA Club Competitions Committee. This committee is UEFA’s principal advisory body on the organisation, structure, and long-term development of its flagship competitions, including the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League.

CEO Bob Madou – Pro League and Royal Belgian FA

CEO Bob Madou joined the Board of Directors of the Pro League at the beginning of November. The Pro League governs professional football in Belgium and is responsible for the organisation of the Jupiler Pro League (1A), Challenger Pro League (1B), the Lotto Super League (women’s competition), as well as the Belgian Super Cup and the Belgian Cup from the Round of 32 onwards. The Pro League acts as the collective voice of Belgium’s professional clubs.

In early December, Bob Madou was also appointed - via the Pro League - to the Board of Directors of the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA). The RBFA is the governing body of football in Belgium, overseeing the regulation and organisation of the game nationwide. Its responsibilities include implementing FIFA regulations, safeguarding the integrity of competitions, and representing Belgian football on the international stage.
