Club claims prize fifth year running

Winning its 15th Supercup, Club Brugge had a good start to the season. We look back, based on 5 facts.

Club harbours the ambtion to always go for gold, and the stats underline this ambition. After the Belgian Cup win in 2014-2015, the league win in 2015-2016 and in 2017-2018, and the Supercup in 2016-2017, Club has now won a prize five years running. That makes it the longest prize winning streak in Club history.

With 15 Supercups in 18 games between the Cup Winners and Champions, no one does better than Blauw-Zwart. In 10 Supercup appearances as reigning Champions, Club is yet to lose a game.

Coming on in the second half, Brandon Baiye, part of the Club Academy since 2012, is one of  the youngest players making his debut at Club, at the age of 17 years, 6 months and 25 days. Here's the top 6:

2. Stephane De Taeye (16y, 11m, 4d) in 1974.

3. Dirk Hinderyckx (17y, 4m, 13d) in 1974.

Other than Brandon Baiye,  Siebe Schrijvers, Mats Rits, Karlo Letica and Arnaut Danjuma also made their official debut in Club jersey. No debut for Matej Mitrović, but his starting spot just days after his transfer is also worth mentioning!

For Hans Vanaken, Ruud Vormer and Stefano Denswil, yesterday's game was the 3rd Supercup game in just four years time. Only 13 players do better at Club. With an assist and a goal, Vanaken spruced up his stats. He has been involved in 67 goals in 148 games. Ruud Vormer celebrated his contract prolongation with another win; with 183 games, he know joins the top 50 at Club when it comes to games played.
