The match
It is the 70thtime that Club and KV Kortrijk have crossed swords in the First Division. The last two meetings both ended in a 1-0 home victory for Kortrijk. In October, the Guys thus took their second win of the season, thanks to a goal by their top marksman Isaak Davies. FCB is doing a lot better at Jan Breydel: in the 34 previous games in Bruges, KVK could never win and in the past eleven years Blauw-Zwart always kept the three points at home.
If Club manages to continue this series, it will be unbeaten for the 15th match in a row. The last defeat dates back to November 5. Last weekend we took the full spoils at Charleroi, moving up to third place in the standings.
Igor Thiago was again treacherous at Mambourg. His tally currently stands at 15 goals in the Belgian league, one less than current top shooter Kévin Denkey (Cercle Brugge). Across all competitions, the Brazilian has already scored 25 goals for Club this season. This puts him in good company: in Europe, only Kylian Mbappé (28) and Harry Kane (27) do better.
Hans Vanaken already scored six times against KV Kortrijk in his Club career. In FCB history, only Foeke Booy and Jan Ceulemans do better, with seven goals each.
With six, Philip Zinckernagel is still the assistant king of Blauw-Zwart. Hugo Vetlesen must be careful not to run into his fifth yellow card of the season, otherwise he will be suspended for the match at Antwerp.
