Club NXT U19 played a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund U19. In a strong first half, captain Granados scored with a nice long-distance shot. In an enjoyable second half, Blauw-Zwart still had chances to deepen the score, but failed to score each time. The Germans equalized on a corner kick in the last minute to take a point back to Dortmund.
Club NXT started the match briskly. Bisiwu had the first chance, but popped over the German goal. Afterwards, he conjured a solo from his hat, but goalkeeper Lisewski caught easily. Borussia showed a first-time effort after more than 15 minutes of play. A free kick by Fidjeu-Tazemeta disappeared to the left of the Bruges goal. Shortly after, Cherny's free kick flew over the crossbar.
Club NXT had most of the ball possession and also always managed to quickly disrupt the Germans' build-up. Dortmund found it difficult to get out. Club NXT pressed more and more and went in search of a first goal. Lund-Jensen was played in nicely, but on the turn he popped unhappily wide of the goal. Da Silva then cleverly played through the visiting defense to Furo, who unfortunately kicked straight at goalie Lisewski. Dortmund had a tough time against our young attacking line with Da Silva, Bisiwu and Furo.
Then, shortly before halftime, Club NXT was rewarded. Captain Granados kicked from afar toward goal. The ball ricocheted off the inside of the post and into the goal. The deserved 1-0. The next attack after that, Bisiwu was foul stopped in the penalty area. Furo took responsibility, but he popped right at the goalkeeper and in the rebound the ball went over the goal. A missed opportunity to put Dortmund up 2-0.
The first chance after halftime was for the visitors. Vanden Driessche had no trouble with it. Dortmund clearly began to play more aggressively, resulting in a few yellow cards on both sides.
Both Bisiwu and Furo continued to miss chances to deepen the lead. Diallo luckily kicked wide of the Bruges goal from close range on the other side. Goalkeeper Vanden Driessche then cleverly caught a header from Benkara.
Furo rushed to the back line and could not outsmart goalkeeper Lisewski from close range. Both teams replaced some players, but the game remained in favor of Blauw-Zwart. Finishing was not possible. The Germans did in the 90th minute. On a corner kick Wätjen headed in the far corner to make it 1-1. A disappointment for Club NXT that played very well and deserved the three points. A trip to Sturm Graz awaits in two weeks.
