Club NXT was eager to get back on track with a win after zero out of twelve. In the derby against KV Oostende, our youngsters took the lead three times with beautiful goals by Barbera, Homma and Vermant. Each time the coastal team came alongside, first through captain Tanghe. Then through an owngoal and one last time through Daniel Perez in the ultimate 97th minute.
More than 1,000 spectators attended the derby against Ostend. The visitors had some old acquaintances running around. Captain Anton Tanghe went through almost all of Club's youth. On the bench were goalkeeper Brent Gabriel and the loanee Daniel Perez.
Both teams clearly started to make it a fun derby. There was a bit of a scare when Liam De Smet was severely kicked in the head by Medley. He was able to continue playing after lengthy care, but would remain in the locker room at halftime. The first chance was for Blue Black. Salah was perfectly served at the sixteen. He wanted to reach Lenn De Smet, but goalkeeper Bossin unfortunately intervened. After almost fifteen minutes of play, Barbera showed his talent. Et-Taïbi ran down the flank and in turn served the Spaniard. He placed the ball perfectly wide of the goalkeeper, giving Club NXT an early lead. Ostend came alongside ei so after, when a header from Anton Tanghe went narrowly wide. At this stage, goalkeeper Shinton's head hit the post. He was fortunately able to continue playing after treatment. Ostend remained dangerous on free kicks. Fortunately, Van Daele's inbounds ball did not reach a teammate. In a duel with the same Van Daele, Salah seriously injured his ankle. He was replaced by Audoor.
Ostend took control of the game more and more. Fortunately, our youngsters occasionally poked dangerously against. Vermant headed over goal. Afterwards, Liam De Smet popped into the hands of goalkeeper Bossin. His twin brother Lenn dribbled through the defense, but again the visiting goalkeeper stood ready. Seven additional minutes came as De Smet, Shinton and Salah were taken care of. After an action by Lenn De Smet, the leather hit Tanghe's arm. The referee did not see a penalty. The devil was in the tail. On a corner kick, Anton Tanghe was able to net the 1-1 after an initial save by Shinton. On the stroke of halftime, the again strong performing Brugge goalkeeper had to stop twice a shot by Henderson.
