After the handsome win at Atlético, Club NXT U23 went in search of another three-peat in distant Limburg. Sabbe and Vermant provided the 0-2 halftime score. Lommel tipped the match to 3-2 in the second half, but Mbamba quickly rebalanced the score. Our youngsters still managed to get the upper hand through a late penalty kick by Vermant.
Coach Nicky Hayen could again count on Lynnt Audoor and Ibe Hautekiet, both having recovered from injury. Goalkeeper Nick Shinton and Noah Mbamba also started in the starting lineup. Our goalkeeper had to bring out his talents during the first quarter of the match. Several times he showed the right reflexes to stop Lommel's chances. Mbamba was responsible for Blauw-Zwart's first attempt. His distance shot resulted in a corner kick. Talbi flicked it perfectly over everyone to Sabbe who headed in the 0-1.
Lommel continued to put Club NXT under pressure, but Shinton kept excellent goalkeeping and kept the zero on the board. Our Japanese Shion Homma was a scourge for the Limburgers. He accelerated very often, dribbled away and often combined with the equally quick Talbi. After a little more than half an hour of play, it was touch and go. On a quick counter attack Homma gave a perfect assist to the incoming Vermant, who left goalkeeper De Busser defenseless. Before half time Lommel missed the chance to connect when Metinho hit the post.
