Club NXT U23 played a strong game with as much as 67% ball possession against SK Deinze. An owngoal in the second half decided the match in favor of the visitors. Goalkeeper Miras prevented Shion Homma's deserved equalizer in the final minute.
Captain Et-Taïbi felt slight discomfort and started on the bench. Jano Willems came into the starting lineup as a result. Deinze started the match strongest. Koné kicked the first chance wide of goal. On a corner kick, Quintero headed onto the crossbar. Club NXT U23 withstood the pressure from Deinze and took control of the match after fifteen minutes. Captain Seys was able to get to the back line after a rush and put the ball in front of goal. Liam De Smet unfortunately could not finish well. An attempt by Homma went narrowly wide of the visiting goal. Lenn De Smet, on another clever attack, swished the ball in front of goal, where Homma was able to run in. Goalkeeper Miras saved handsomely.
Despite the pressure from Blauw-Zwart, the visitors had to watch out for dangerous counters. Ex-Club player Jellert Van Landschoot shot wide with his left from close range. Just before half time Homma prevented Deinze from scoring the opening goal. He stopped a volley by De Belder. Half-time score: 0-0.
The slightly injured De Belder was substituted for Kehrer at the start of the second half. Again, Deinze had the first opportunity to open the score. Again Koné headed wide of the Bruges goal. The hard working Yameogo crossed the ball to Lenn De Smet who in turn played Homma on. Unfortunately, our Japanese popped high over the empty goal. Granados also took his chance, but his shot disappeared wide of the goal.
