Club NXT was able to pick up the win after last week's loss against Deinze. The youngsters played convincingly against SK Beveren that could never really get into the game. Just before halftime Club NXT struck twice. Furo scored after a fine individual action and just after that Lenn De Smet struck mercilessly. Thus it knocked out SK Beveren early on in about three minutes.
The first chance of the match came from our top marksman Furo. His kick at goal could not surprise goalkeeper Reus. On the opposite side, Servais went for his chance, but he popped over the Bruges goal. After ten minutes, Lenn De Smet placed the ball well centrally to captain Audoor. He did not hesitate and took the ball full on the right. His shot deviated and went into corner kick. The corner yielded ei so after the opening goal. However, Yameogo popped over the goal. Our Ivorian then injured himself and had to be replaced by Willems after only twenty minutes.
Halfway through the first half, Club NXT had the chance for the opener. Furo suddenly had a lot of space and placed the leather well centrally to De Smet. His shot unfortunately went wide of the Beveren goal. Shortly after, Furo himself missed a huge opportunity. He was sent deep and was able to hold off his opponent. His shot unfortunately went over the goal again.
Club NXT clearly dominated the visitors. However, Beveren suddenly had a chance to open the score. Michiwaki received the ball at the small right corner after a wonderful invention from a teammate. Fortunately, he was too surprised and popped high over De Corte's goal. Club NXT got off to a good start here. The very industrious Faraas made many meters and reached the opposite side of the field at breakneck speed. However, he choked the ball just as he was about to pass.
On a subsequent breakaway, our Norwegian got into the box, but goalkeeper Reus snatched the ball away just before he could lay it on. Beveren was groaning under the Bruges pressure and a goal was inevitable. Furo ran past everyone from his own half and kicked the ball at the post. Fortunately the ball ricocheted in and Blauw-Zwart finally took a deserved lead. Just two minutes later, Lenn De Smet doubled the score. Lund-Jensen advanced on the flank and put cleverly in front of goal. We went to rest with a handsome 2-0 lead. Beveren had been slapped against the field on two minutes.
At the start of the second half, Granados replaced Lund-Jensen. Our captain Lynnt Audoor received a yellow card for a schwalbe in the sixteen. Not a penalty according to the referee. This card did not stop Audoor from playing a hell of a game. Ex-Bruggling Limbombe tried to outwit goalkeeper De Corte with a shot, but our goalie had no problems with it. Ola-Adebomi was also unable to outsmart De Corte.
On the other side, Granados, played in by a perfect ball from De Roeve, tried to increase the lead with a hard shot, but goalkeeper Reus prevented worse. Our Spaniard then gave a fine assist to Lenn De Smet. His shot splattered on the crossbar. Club NXT kept putting pressure on Beveren, but couldn't score anymore. With this second victory of the season our youngsters now count nine points from six games and are in the safe middle of the league. Next game in the league is the away match at Zulte Waregem next Sunday. But first, our U19 will get underway in the Youth League against Sturm Graz.
