Spectacle score
Club NXT started the match well. Blauw-Zwart had a lot of ball possession but in terms of goal danger there was little to note. KV Kortrijk did come more into the game in the course of the first half, but they did not put Vanden Driessche to work either. Around the half hour mark, the visitors did get two chances, but the Bruges goalkeeper was ready. Club NXT had some smaller opportunities on the counterattack, but the crosses that were kicked did not reach a teammate.
Just before halftime, the visitors were awarded a penalty for hands by Gomez van Hoogen. Ambrose kicked towards the bottom corner, but Vanden Drieessche saved handsomely. Thus, the glasses score remained on the board at halftime.
Deserved victory
At the start of the second half, there were no substitutions. Coach De Roeck was happy with what he saw from his team and it paid off. Just after halftime, Jakke Van Britsom rounded a nice triangle through the visiting defense well. The decisive pass came from Vandeperre who scored his first assist. Club NXT took firm control and did not let KV Kortrijk into the match.
It was substitutes Musuayi and Lund Jensen who brought even more verve into the Bruges game with their freshness. Lund Jensen made a nice move in the sixteen and was hooked. Instead of a penalty, however, he received a yellow card for an alleged schwalbe. It turned out to be a stay of execution, as Musuayi was able to blast the 2-0 into the net after some confusion in front of the Kortrijk goal, giving Club NXT a deserved double lead.
