Club draws 1-1 with PSV

Voorbereidingen 2024-2025

After last week's 4-1 victory against AEK Athens, Club travelled to Sint-Michielsgestel in the Netherlands for the pre-season training camp. On the last day Blauw-Zwart faced Dutch champions PSV, which ended in a 1-1 draw after goals from Nielsen and Saibari.

PSV started the game lively while pressing high on the pitch in the first ten minutes, which resulted in an early chance when Saibari came eye to eye with Mignolet, but Club's No. 1 saved well. Moments later Saibari was at it again - this time his shot flew over the crossbar. When Til picked out Mauro Junior, the Brazilian dragged his shot wide.

PSV kept creating the better chances in the first half. Saibari sent Til through on goal, but he was thwarted by Mignolet and a few minutes later Saibari tried his luck again from distance, but it went high over the target.

Meanwhile right full-back Et-Taïbi switched places with Spileers, who had been playing as left centre-back. Just before half-time, PSV had one last chance to open the scoring, but Mignolet pulled off a great save to deny De Jong.

Second Half

At the start of the second half, Vermant, Lenn De Smet and Talbi came on for Nusa, Jutglà & Tzolis. Club upped the pressure on PSV right from the start and with success! After a poor clearance in the PSV defence, Vanaken teed up Nielsen who took one touch before curling it in brilliantly in the top right corner.

Moments later Talbi almost doubled the score when he rushed down the left-hand side and fired at goal, only to see it just go wide.

PSV were close to an equalizer when De Jong dribbeled past Et-Taïbi, but then failed to get the ball past Mignolet. But just two minutes later, PSV did get their goal when Saibari put the ball against the back of the net from the left. A few minutes later PSV made their first sub of the afternoon when Fernandez replaced Obispo, who limped off.

Around the 70th minutes both sides made a number of chances. For PSV there were eleven subs: Drommel, Dams, Merién, Bresser, Oppegård, Babadi, Land, Bawuah, Lang, Uneken and Bahaty. For Blauw-Zwart, it were Jackers, Yameogo, Boyata, Romero, Wylin, Granados, Liam De Smet and Barberá who came on. The latter was replaced again quickly after receiving a hard knock. Lund Jensen was his replacement. Bisiwu came on for Talbi. He was allowed to complete the last quarter of an hour, but there were no real chances.

Club ends its training camp with a 1-1 draw at De Herdgang. Next Wednesday, there are two more friendlies for Blauw-Zwart: one against Dender behind closed doors and one against Norwich, at The Nest.
